Hey all, thanks in advance for any replies! I inherited a Firestone 10hp which I found out to be a re-branded Scott-Atwater 1953 10HP Shift. I wanted to see if I could get it running again but the drive shaft isn’t moving even after removing the entire lower unit. Upon opening the bearing plate I found a ton of old dry grease and rust. The forward gear won’t back off the propeller shaft. Tried dunking it in CLR overnight, putting a ton of PB Blaster on it, nothing will budge. According to the manual I have, it should back right off the propeller shaft, but it wont move forward/aft at all. Is there something I’m missing in the disassembly? More importantly, is this even worth it based on the pictures? Lots of rust…
I’m leaning towards trashing it or selling the parts off the upper unit which is in okay condition.
