      Waunaboat,

I plan on doing a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration on this one, do you know of any known tricks for the least amount of damage?

I would go with a the 1/3ATF 1/3 acetone 1/3 diesel mix because it would also help to remove any rust, paint, etc.. and this would help to make the cosmetic restoration easier.  You are probably better off getting any gunk and rust out of it with a solution before you try to remove it with force so that you do not damage the walls of the cylinder or piston should there be anything grinding inside.

First thing to consider with any method is What can go wrong? Second thing to consider is What parts can be sacrificed for which
        a replacement can be found?
Any method may work on some motors
and no method will work on a few motors. I had a stuck Merc KB4-1 and a Johnson TN 26 and a can of
Marvel Mystery Oil. Both motors freed up using only oil thru spark plug holes, a few days time and then gentle rocking of flywheel. On the other hand a
partial stroke too much will burst a cylinder when using t
        a grease gun. Several friends
reach for torch firt when a
        problem comes up. Others prefer
skunk juice aka rust busters or
a brand name product. Diesel fuel
and ATF plus long soak have also
        been suggested as the cure.
Truth be told there are many ways
to free up a stuck motor and we each favor the method that works
for us and the motors we work on,
One thing certain, our methods take time that no shop mechnic
        can spare,

        bad things can happen)

If I can get a stuck motor torn down to a short block I boil the block in a pot of oil and whatever snake oil is handy over the outdoor fire pit.  Works most of the time.  The grandkids think it’s funny to see this, however, no roasting marshmallows.
