Hello All, Can anyone tell me the turns out to start with on an Evinrude HandiTwin. If I tighten it in until it stops, then the needle is about a quarter turn out when in the center position. When full open it is about one half turn out. The next option is to turn it 1 more turn out and then the needle would be one and a quarter turns out and so on for each turn out. Thanks for any help.

They usually run at a third to a half a turn out. The Handitwin is an Elito. The motor is primed by holding up the check valve (brass pin under the valve) while tapping the float pin. After it is adjusted to the best running position on a boat, losen the set screw and center the pointer to point straight up. Only advance the magneto lever to the best running position. Over advancing will cause it to overheat and can damage the piston. . . 🙂

Thanks Garry, I’ll give that a try.
