If so, here’s something I found about the new fuel lines which may be causing the problem.

Grey fuel lines do that a lot. Aftermarket fuel lines. When I get a boat with them the first thing I do is change them all out. Complete junk.

thanks for the link mumbles, the photos really help understand the problem.

Brought to you by the same people who bring you the new, stupid portable gas tanks that spill all over when you pour them: That’s right, your do-good government.

This is a piece of the same crap. I cut a section of hose and could pull the liner right out. Eventually it just breaks up into small pieces that plug your system.

I’ve replaced a truck load of those as well. The only good fuel line I’ve found is OEM, either Mercury or BRP.
Here’s a carb bowl off of a Merc 4 stroke. It was running the same fuel line as the one in David’s picture above. The inner liner melted and ended up in the carb bowl.
I agree with Bill, the new environmentally safe fuel lines, primer bulbs and lined fuel tanks are creating a lot of problems. Don’t forget to buy your $60 anti spray valve to keep from getting showered with gas when you disconnect the fuel line….

I just replaced both of my Mercury grey fuel lines as both of them had the inner liner coming out. One was much worse than the other, but both were junk. It about broke my heart to throw away my one Mercury line, as it was so soft an pliable, and the bulb worked so well. I was able to salvage the bulb and the ends, and replaced them with ethanol safe regular automotive fuel line. I kept finding plastic in my fuel filters, darn that makes me mad still!!! 👿 👿 👿

P.S. If I hadn’t heard of the issue here in previous posts, I wouldn’t have knows where to look, once I investigated the lines, it was obvious that they were failing.

Do the automotive fuel lines have that issue with breakdown or a disintegrating inner liner?

Because I have been making tank to motor fuel lines with the black automotive hoses.

                        cajuncook1,
I use the black automotive fuel hose as well. I have not experienced any issues with it.
Other may have had different experiences with it.

                        Respectfully
