The cylinder walls on this old motor are scored pretty bad. I lightly honed them with stones but the scores are still there. I am woundering if I should hone more or just put in the new rings as is at this point.
The motor did run poorly prior to my restoration with 55-60 psi compression. The old rings were really worn down compared to the new ones. Pistons look fine.
What would you do? Would it be worth while to buy some type of measurement device and see where I am at?
I have to agree. That little 3rd port motor has to be in decent condition in order to run well. And from your description, it has been a long time since it has ran well. What amazes me is that it ran long enough to get that bad. Time to retire it.
