      Hey guys,
I am in need of a head gasket for a 1956 Johnson 7.5 hp outboard (AD10M). I am having trouble finding a parts list for the 56. The 57 parts list is available and looks quite similar, and I know there are a fair amount of parts that can be swapped between those models. Can I use a head gasket for an AD12 on the AD10?If not, does someone know where I can get the correct part?

Thanks for your assistance. I think I may be able to save this motor which was seized when my girlfriend drug it in. Cylinders are now turning free and look salvageable.

Jack, Part No. 203034 is the head gasket you need. This gasket is used on 1956-1958 Johnson 7.5 Hp, and 1954-1958 Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5 Hp. It may be used on 1950-1953 Fleetwins also, but I don’t know about that. Hope this helps.

Hey Aquasonic (I love your username),
That’s exactly what I needed. Thanks so much from a newbie taking on his first rebuild(s). I say rebuilds because I have two projects for I am purchasing.

Hey Aquasonic ( or others with knowledge of AD10s),
What about the impeller and carb kit? Are those also the same as for the 57s?Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Jack – carb kit is OMC/BRP #439071. Water pump impeller kit only is #379764 or #763758 for a pump kit that includes a new pump housing.

Jack, Just for your future reference, to my knowledge, the Johnson 7.5 Hp from 1956-1958 have identical parts with the exception of paint, decals, medallions, tiller grip, etc.. There’s plenty of help here, so any questions just ask.

Thanks. I thought so, but if I had a nickel for every incorrect assumption I made, I would have lots more outboards than I do.

Thanks, Bob. I am getting close to having all my parts ordered. I am going to see if I can get her back together and get her to run, then I will think about a cosmetic transformation, cause she is UGLY right now.
