      what material do you guys use for head gasket when you can’t buy a gasket

            I must be lucky as I have a partial roll of what I suspect is asbestos based gasket material. It came out of the shipyards years ago and is waterproof, flameproof, coated with graphite or something and hard to cut because of the fibres in it. Other than that it sure works good!

              Victor Reinz LV 127 is a pretty good standard product for head gaskets that do not require the metal re inforcing rings.

              I believe other have recommended the graphite material from here, but have never personally tried it.

              Mumbles, you should throw that stuff out, it will kill ya you know! lol

              My company is an industrial insulation services, but we also do a lot of asbestos and lead abatement, I throw a lot of it out, so personally would not recommend to put it back on 😉
