      You change the timing with the magneto handle – just like service outboards. . . 😀

        Like Garry said, you change the timing by moving the timing advance lever. The key way is cut to locate the cam in the flywheel to a relative position to when the motor will fire along with the coil heels in relationship to the magnets in the flywheel. The final timing is with the moved with the timer advance/retard lever. The key way is set to get everything into position to make it all work.
