Where is the fitting labeled “to-coils” mounted? I’ve never seen that fitting on an old Evinrude.

It is located on top of speed control. Left prong goes thru magneto plate (looks like a stock Ingress point) and to the coil. The right prong goes to ground. Picts to follow

I can’t be sure what it is, it’s not original to the motor. There was, on the motors with those two plug in connectors, a jumper that ran across two screw on terminals. You left it in place when using the magneto, but disconnected it when boosting the magneto with a battery.

                Good evening.

Need a little help checking the coil on the 1929 Fleetwin. Please see pict. Are these normal readings for this coil? My kingdom for a schematic! 🙂 And would you call it good?

I get some sketchy continuity on the spring-loaded leads at the base where the spark plug wires come in contact for circuit. Is/was this really reliable?

Best I can tell, this is the current rough schematic.

Eric, check your pm messages….Also, you will see 2 sets of windings, one at each end of the coil at the coil heels. Those are the winding for the power for the lights. Many times they are bad, but, you never know! And looking at your motor it does obviously have the early bakelite contacts under the mag plate.
