I have a 1941 Elto model 4266 outboard and am wondering if one can run it without the exhaust tube? Also does anyone have the busing retainer that connects  the water pipe to the housing?  If so I would like to purchase one as well as an exhaust tube.  Can anyone help?  Thanks, Dennis

Is yours like this one on Ebay?

It probably won’t hurt to run it without the exhaust tube, but it’s going to
        be annoying loud.
Search Doug and Matt Penn on this site, or the net. They may have parts.

Yes it is like the one listed on EBAY but not with the box and accompanying items.  It is not in that condition either.  Thanks for the information regarding source of parts.

The ordinal 1 inch outside dia. thin wall tubing that was used
is available but hard to locate. You can search for aluminum
tubing suppliers and see what you can come up with. At the
home centers or some hardware stores with an aluminum rack
you will find 1-1/16” outside dia. thick wall tubing. I have filed
down the top of the thick wall tubing to 1” to fit inside the
exhaust manifold (don’t forget the hole for the above water
exhaust) and opened up the inside at the bottom to fit the
flange on lower unit. Its a much stronger exhaust than the fragile
            tubing the motor came with.
Some time ago I found a shower curtain rod at a hardware store
that was the correct 1” thin wall tubing but it was a discontinued
item. I got the last one. This 1” thin wall tubing was also
common on aluminum folding chairs but they don’t usually have a
piece long enough for the exhaust tube.

Nothing in electrical. Pluming offers some
                  “High Performance” options however.

                        Tubs,

Thanks for the information.  I did find some 1″ OD aluminum at Menards that should work.  What diameter is the above water hole and how far is it from  the exhaust manifold?  Any ideas of how to replace the connection of the water tube and the top of the water pump?  It appears there is a rubber grommet that should go there.  Thanks all you folks for your help.  Dennis
