I’ve been going through a box of props that I don’t need, nor
never knew what they originally were on, that I want
to get rid of at Tomahawk.
I’ve wrote down all the numbers I could find, noted rotation,
shaft size, # of splines, etc..
I then proceeded to do Internet searches on each. In some
cases I’d find additional information about diameter and pitch,
but rarely "exactly" what they fit.
For one OMC prop I found info that it fit various motors from
a 1968 55 hp, to a 1984 90 hp. Is that even possible?
What’s the best way to ID props as to what they "fit"?
Below is what I came up with so far for an idea of what
I’m up against. I’m not asking anyone to try to ID each prop
for me, just wondering "how" I can do better. The shaft diameters
were measure in the back side of the prop bores, as some of
them had splines on the front side.
Thanks, BuccanneerProps

July 20, 2016 at 3:11 pm #40569As to one of your initial questions, yes, the 1968 55 hp 3-cylinder OMC propeller will also fit up into the 1990s V4 models. Johnson and Evinrude 3-cylinder and crossflow V4s used the same propshaft spline configuration for a generation and then some. Might still use it…
July 20, 2016 at 5:17 pm #40577Thanks Chinewalker, with all those applications I should at
least be able to get rid of that prop!
Was just told that a 13 spline prop is likely for an OMC.
Great tip!Prepare to be boarded!
