How the hell do you get to that dam screw WITHOUT removing the rewind starter nightmare?

See below pic. Look for steel pointy device, it is the carb mount screw

      Not liking engineers too much…LOL

Small punch & hammer. Been knocking the nut loose like that forever. Don’t like to take the rewind off the motor either. When you get through cleaning the carb just start the nut with a small flat blade screw driver with thick grease on the blade. Knock it back tight again.

          Hi Richard,

You don’t… kind of. 😉 You have to take the rewind starter nightmare (I like that description) loose, but not off completely. Let me see if I can go get a pic for you. You can take the thing loose and gingerly lift it up and lean it over to allow access to that carb nut. Just be careful not to bump it enough to tip it over and send it to unwinding. Not too bad to do though.

So anyone other than me see this as a fair and just reason to string up an engineer?

Yup that is daylight, now do I fill it with something? This is not my motor….

Just one of a thousand reasons, but this one was easy to get around compared to some! Save your energy for the tough ones.

What is that? Crack? Freeze damage? Time for a cleaning & JB Weld or your favorite adhesive.

                    Richard,

You might like the punch method like Dan uses. I have tried that and it works but it’s a little clumsy for me. I prefer to do it this way. Do whichever works for you but I got the pics. And I’m with Dan, I DO NOT like to take the recoil off the motor. 😮

Ill have to try the punch method. I always do like Fisherman 6 does, simply loosen the recoil and tilt it over for access to the nut.
