I’ve already agreed to buy this motor, (’54) from one of out members, but it occurs to me that I really don’t know much about Sea King or Gale (OMC) So what’s the wisdom on Sea King? Hard to service? Parts scarce? Tell me what I’m in for. I’ve seen pictures and it looks to be in VERY good shape. The owner says it’s all up to date and then some. Should be a good "daily runner". Sea King seems scarce. What’s up with that?

Its about working on a Evinrude or Johnson Points, condenser, coils and pump impeller are easy to find. The Sea King 12 hp is for sale on Ebay often.

Stand it up beside a 1954 Evinrude 15 hp, with the hoods off, and except for color you would have a hard time telling them apart. That is not to say they are the same inside, they are not. Point is, if you can work on one, you can work on the other. And except for internal powerhead parts they are pretty much the same motor. Part numbers are the same, whenever the part is the same.
