Now, there is no way I can type in the tone she used while saying that seemingly simple statement but maybe you can fill in that part.
Oh, I missed a turkey. Seems so far away and unimportant now.
April 9, 2017 at 7:24 pm #55810All 3 cylinders have a bit over 90 lbs compression. So, a little good news. Still need to check spark on the Western Auto. Is there an easy way to get that little starter hub off?
April 9, 2017 at 7:41 pm #55811There is a special wrench made for that. Let’s face it though—most of them get removed with a pipe wrench or hammer & cold chisel.
April 9, 2017 at 9:19 pm #55813If you put some protection on the pipe wrench, pieces of plywood for instance, it doesn’t damage the fancy nut.
April 9, 2017 at 9:39 pm #55814I would not use hammer and chisel technique…that may make expensive to replace parts into
low value scrap metal. Rope in the hole and padded pipe wrench will work
as long as ratchet nut is not rusted tight. Give it a try but do NOT force it.
When using fly wheel puller have a 7/16"x 20 fine thread nut on crankshaft thread
Prevention is easier than repair of thread….been there done that…Don’t go there.
If ratchet nut is tight, apply heat with torch until it is warm enough to melt wax
so it flows into thread area. Surprisingly simple but it may work and worth a try..Best practice would be to grip flywheel when removing/installing ratchet nut. That avoids
any stress on crankshaft, rod, piston or bearings.Louis
April 10, 2017 at 12:03 am #55819You can use Prufrex OMC coils in your Elgin, if you want to get it running. Just press off the old coils and press on the new. You might have to alter the laminations a little. The 7.5 is a good runner, and as others have said, has a lot of power. OK, I admit it, I like the Elgins, awkward styling or no.
April 10, 2017 at 1:30 am #55823Well, fine. But did you get a turkey ?
April 10, 2017 at 2:07 am #55826I missed one yesterday. I have only gotten one this season.
