      Dear Sir,

My late father had an old Evinrude outboard motor which he rebuilt from a box of parts in the 1970’s. The engine was used up until 30 years ago.

I am trying to find out some information about the engine. There is a plate which is very difficult to decipher. My father believed the outboard was from the 1920’s.

I have attached some pictures for your information and I look forward to any assistance you can give please.

      Kind regards

According to the “bible”, a #4008 is a 1934 Single. Not sure about anything else other than OMC made several Singles, Sport Single and several others. Does it have a brass lower unit and foot? Are the decals legible?

The bottom of the shaft and exhaust are brass. No decals remain.

The only picture that came up is the tag.
            Does it look like this?

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Like the Sport single, 2.2hp. Takes a Champion 6M or K-15J set at 0.025″. Points set at 0.020″. Oil gas ratio 2/3 rds pint oil to a gallon gas. Like the home made gas tank.
