Looks like it’s hubbed for things like my RDE19 (35hp) and ’57’ Gale 25hp. I don’t know of any numbers on it, going to look at it this morning. I was wondering what pitch it might be.
Got a four blade aluminum and the blades look pretty flat to me. I think it would be for pushing a load and cutting down on cavitation. Haven’t seen a bronze one.
Just got back with it, 9.5" diameter – 256F on the side of the prop. 4 blades wouldn’t increase pitch, right? Is the angle of the blades the only determining factor in pitch? Definitely should fit my RDE19 and Gale 25hp.
Number of blades does not effect pitch. Since it is a bronze prop it could have "Cup" in the trailing edges of the prop which would effectively act like pitch. Not sure that happened on old props, but it does on new style props. I am sure racers figured out long ago that cup helped the prop hold onto the water.
BeerMan – if you run across another 4 blade brass prop for the RD-19
let me know. I would be looking for one for my RDE-19 just for show and tell
when it is on the static display all polished up pretty looking and all.
