    Ha. It depends on how long you want it to last. If it is out in the UV like on a pontoon always try to keep it covered. Historically every plastic tank I see that has been exposed to the UV will somehow get water in it overtime. If you’re going to buy one stay away from more contraptions on top that will allow water to enter. Also stay away from any type of laminated hose which will separate on the inside and plug your fuel flow…. Especially if ever exposed to ethanol. There are plenty of nice OEM steel tanks available and I myself have a collection of about 40 in different sizes both pressurized and suction. I don’t recommend cream coat but instead a little hydrochloric acid to take care of the rust and then neutralize with baking soda and water.

    That’s just my advice but I’ve only been in the outboard industry since 1966.
