My guess is a rain dodger for running in inclement weather.

than spraying your outboard with six different
colors of paint and later trying to sell it!Prepare to be boarded!
October 22, 2018 at 5:22 pm #84822Very interesting, indeed!
The cast bronze support fixtures were obviously purpose made for this motor as they bolt right up to the motor and made with support for the bonnet in mind.
The "throttle" lever has an "accessory" rod that drops straight down to allow usage of the throttle with the bonnet fully opened.
There are no manufactures markings anywhere and the bonnet seems to be well made and still in very good condition.
As to its actual maker and intended use……
For now, it will remain safe and warm on display in my living room.
Respectfully,
