      Hello,
I recently picked up a 1968 Johnson 1.5 hp Model SC 10 S. Although it will be a while before I put new lower unit grease in it due to cold weather, I seem to only see one drain plug. Is there an upper plug I am overlooking? Also, use 80-90 wt grease? TIA
      Dan

Yep, only one fill/drain plug on those. Remove plug and orient motor so plug hole is down to drain. Reposition so hole is up and slowly dribble oil in till full. 80-90 Outboard gear oil is fine.

Seems easy enough and since we are ice fishing here it will be a while. Thanks Frank.

Fill it very slowly, perhaps out of a squirt oil can. The trapped air will give you false full indications…Fill it until it appears full with the hole facing upwards, then let it sit for a few minutes so the air works its way out…

Thanks Fleetwin. I was thinking I would fill it slowly with a large syringe.
