I saved this from the "chopper" today. It’s a two horse like my 68 Evinrude except for the electric motor on the lower unit. Never seen one like it. The gas engine runs but when I connected the alligator clips to a deep cell…nothing. Anyone familiar with this set-up? Sorry, I tried Photobucket but it didn’t work.

I think there’s been some serious modification done to your motors gearcase. Generator, fish attractor, turbo booster? Who knows? Hurry up and take it apart. I’m dying to see what’s inside! :geek:

Originally, the gearcase would have looked like this one when it left the factory.

What the !@#$ is that? It almost looks as if it was manufactured that way. This can’t be some "hybrid" technology, a little too old for that. Perhaps that is just an DC generator for lights or accessories. I’m "assuming" that yellow lead is the only one coming out of that gearcase, where does it lead/plug in to?
