Try as I mai, I can’t find a fuel pump rebuild kit for my 9.5 model 9r-72m. I need the gaskets and diaphragms for it. I don’t want he hole pump assembly which is over a $100 when I paid $250 for the motor

July 14, 2016 at 2:14 pm #40180Frank is correct (as usual 🙂 it is part number 393088 (Sierra 18-7823).
I am looking in my NAPA Sierra marine parts book, and it lists it as that. Pic shows a complete kit, available thru your local NAPA Store. Here in town Seirra parts are also available thru O’Rielley’s or Cost Less Auto parts, if you have any of those around your area.
These pumps usually are buggars to sucessfully rebuild. Take your pump apart carefully, notice where everything is, perhaps take pics of each step for re-assembly reference. I even lay each layer out in sequence on the work bench, so I will know how to put it back together in reverse sequence. I use the mounting screws for a jig, easier to stack the parts and keep them in place.
If you are a novice, you might want to decern the layer that is the pump diaphram, (it’s the floppy soft gasket thingie that sometimes sticks out a little towards the middle) and keeping the rest intact, simply replace the diaphram which usually is the culprit, I have found.
I do not envy you, it’s a rough task, and I wish you good luck.
Many here on the site are willing to help with their knowledge, so do not be afraid to ask questions.

July 14, 2016 at 5:12 pm #40190Use the instructions on how to rebuild them because they have to put together exactly correct to function properly. They aren’t that complicated, just go slow. Those repair kits are available I’m a sierra distributor and buy them frequently. Cost around $15.00 if memory serves correct.
July 14, 2016 at 11:31 pm #40216I too, have purchased rebuild kits from NAPA. The Sierra line carries almost all rebuild kits, the springs are critical, also the caps to them. Trust me, its nervracking. but possible… Good luck gentlemen, I hope this also helped.
