Does anyone know if the magneto assembly from a Johnson J25 fits the A25? I realize the J25 only has one cylinder, so only one wire off the coil, while the A25 has two. The previous owner of the A25 took it apart and managed to loose the entire mag assembly. I found a parts J25 on Craigslist that might be a good parts donor if it can somehow be done.

      Thanks for any suggestions.

I do believe that the J 25 mag and flywheel are smaller than the A25 mag and flywheel.
You can place a wanted add in the webvertize area. Those mags are fairly available.

the serial number for the AB-25 motor?

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Ah, that explains the difficulty fitting the replacement screws. They were off enough to start to thread but bog down, so I put the old ones back. Thanks for pointing that out!
