I have a complete Johnson clamp assembly for a small late 1930s or 1940s? motor. Can’t find what it fits. Casting #s on clamp legs are 43 D 22 and 43 D 21. These numbers are not listed in the Johnson common parts list which I have. Any one know what they fit?
Thanks, Tom
With the middle "D" number showing up, it could be an original 4 hp Elto??. Would have to go further into my Library to decode the year for ya. Maybe someone else has this info in front of them to reply faster?
It’s definitely a small Johnson unit. Part number of the legs with 43 D 22 and 21 would be listed in Johnson parts as 44-22 and 44-21. Johnson model 75 motors have 44-23 and 44-24 part numbers, and this clamp assembly is about the same size as the model 75s are.
My oldest OMC Master Parts Book 1969, shows 43-17 (rope), than jumps to 43-23 (pin), and in the 44-23, 24 those are not covered in the 44 group. I just sold a J80 last year, and it went out of town or I could have checked it.
Did a little more cleaning of assembly and found the casting # on the thrust socket, 43 D 16 which I found in my Johnson common parts list (under 43-16) as used on the models HS,HD,HA,MS,MD, etc. So that’s it’s application.
