Johnson electric start ring gear question

Hello, does anyone know if there is a balance issue when adding an electric start ring gear to a (1958 Johnson 18hp)flywheel? So would I need to get a complete flywheel with ring gear, or can I just add a ring gear to my existing flywheel ?
