Hi Everyone. I was wondering if someone could shed some light on a 1940 Johnson HD15 engine. It’s a mid year production engine. I’m trying to fund out if the outside body cover of the engine was originally painted dull aluminum from the factory or would it have been sold unpainted buffed metal? I don’t see any paint on the cover parts or could it just be the original paint is completely worn off? Thanks.

Mine is original and painted dull aluminum.

Great little art deco motor, and not too easy to find!

Thank you so very much for getting back to me with the info on the HD15. I will go ahead and paint it dull aluminum. Appreciate it. Didn’t think about the design as being art deco in form but now that you mention it it does!
