      Oltimer, did you machine the bottom crankcase hole
      with a square plunge, or machine a "half round"
      groove for the O-ring to fit in? I’d have to look again,
      but I don’t think the bottom drain cap would keep
      the o-ring in place, as I think the hole is too big.
      What’s the thought with an o-ring just on the
      bottom, and not the top of the crankcase?

        I did it in the bottom of the crankcase casing, with both half’s bolted together, and ground down a half round bit for the cutting. The o-ring is far superior. Any machinist can do this for you, but as he will tell you; most of the time is taken in set up time and jig. Making the slot for the o-ring takes the least time.
