      Hi Mumbles 🙂

If I get a chance tomorrow maybe I can take a couple of pictures that make sense after I service the snowblower and check my skis (season’s coming!!!). I’ve got an old HD apart in the garage. The two drilled holes provide the pressure relief for the exhaust which travels in the outer casing. The block drains coolant through a short tube on the flange assembly into the outer casing as well. The hex bolt goes straight through the outer casing and holds the inner casing around the drive shaft in place. The top of the inner casing slides up into the flange assembly so there isn’t anywhere for the water to enter the inner casing. The hole in the bolt goes through the center and only drains the inner casing.

OK. I have a couple HD 25’s in pieces I’ve never really looked at. Guess I should.

I’ll save you some time 🙂

I backed out the hex bolt with the hole in it and removed the inner casing from the outer. That’s the casing you see coming out of the flange on the bottom of the block not a driveshaft. Behind the casing you can see the drain tube that dumps into the outer casing. I used some air on the block to trace the water passage up as far as what looks like the water jacket around the exhaust ports.
