I picked up a J-25 and it was missing the tube that goes into the end of the muffler. I bought one with the screws and the screws don’t fit. They are too small. did different years have larger screws? It seems the ones I got were too small. It is a 1929 model.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

I am going to the auto parts store and buy a couple of those spring things you put into a stripped hole so you can put a screw back in and see if that will work for the screws I have. Otherwise I will have to redrill the holes in the tube that holds it in for larger screws.

those “spring things” aren’t to good… better use the solid ” one piece” version
