My uncle gave me this Johnson yesterday.
Is it a J-25? The flywheel is just showing
“J” followed by the serial number, not J-25.
The serial number indicates that it’s a 1929 model.

It spins over freely, not much compression, and it
looks “rusty” in the spark plug hole.

Quite the muffler, is that original?
      Thanks.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Nice enough motor, and it being a gift makes it even better.

After looking at a few more J-25’s on YouTube last night, I’d have to say
that the muffler is NOT original…… unless maybe it was Johnson’s
            “super stealth” muffler option.

My uncle has pass on several motors to me over the last few years.
Each one is a treasure, as each visit with him. He’s 85 and more frail
each time I see him, but his mind is still pretty sharp, so we
            can still talk outboards.
