      Good Day All,

My buddy brought over the Caille Liberty Twin and the Johnson K35.

He’s cleaned up the Caille a little bit, a pic is attached. It needs a transom clamp. Does anyone have any leads on one?

It is also in need of the brass strap that goes across the “U” shaped part of the magneto. Pretty sure that is equal to unobtainium, but need to ask anyway.

He’s not looking for it to run, in fact he wants to hang it on the wall. So just day-dreaming on a couple of ‘nice if we could find’ parts.

Next is the K35. He wants me to try to get it running. The magneto is not installed but I think I have all (most) of the parts. Here is my big question:

How do I test the coil? I googled it and followed the procedure but can’t get any measurements that mean anything. The plug wires are as good as shot, and I suspect the coil may be as well.

Also – When I try to test the points for open/closed continuity I am getting continuity EVERYWHERE. I have enclosed a picture of the points and the pivot point where I think maybe there is supposed to be an insulator? I took the points apart and cleaned everything so there is no grease or oil causing this.  Any help?

The pen is pointing to the arm that the points pivot on, where I think I need an insulator?

      Thanks all!

I believe Canadian member Bob Skinner has or had those magneto straps reproduced.

He should be watching eBay. One just sold on there last month.
