      I don’t. I’m not sure when Johnson quit doing it but the 1931 OA-55  I did last winter never had it.

      A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

        I think that the tar was an attempt at waterproofing and insulation. Unless you are planning a trans-Atlantic voyage with that motor , I wouldn’t worry about the tar.
