First off, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and Thank for your help in 2023. This new year brings me starting work on my two K50’s.

I’m confused about what cylinder block and lower unit they should have. One has the spark plugs out back and one has them out the side. I have seen

pictures both ways. Was there a switch somewhere from 1930 through 32? Also I have two different lower units. One has the big nut out front above the skeg and the other is

swept back with no nut. Any ideas. I didn’t attach any pictures, I don’t know how to get the file size down on my camera to enable an upload.

If I had to guess, you have a standard K-50 motor and a KR racing motor.  The KR had the plugs out the back with a removable cylinder head and a lower unit without the bearing adjuster slapped on the front.  Photos would help confirm.

Thanks, I’ll check to see if I have a removable head.

OK, went out to the shed and took a close look. No removable head. One piece, just like the other motor. This one has no serial # though.
