      Ok omc experts i just picked up a 1956 30 hp johnson model rde 18c I’m assuming the e is electric start or electric choke it has both any one know what the ” c ” stands for i read something about a better seal any information is appreciated

        The C identifies any mid-year engineering changes that were made, IF there were any.  Otherwise, it means nothing.  In this case, there were changes to the lower crankcase seal.  But I don’t have the parts book to tell which version you have.

          It looks like there was an RDE-18E and an RDE-18C.  I don’t know which is which.
