I just saw an add for a 1956 Johnson 15 hp which has a model number of FD-10 although this one and a model number on the plate that read FD-10S. Anyone know what the S is for?

Hello Tim I have no idea on that model number but welcome to our website!   I have a couple FD’s and neither have a letter attached.   BTW nice look’en dogs!   This time of year was always special to me.   Could not wait to get in the woods with my four legged pals.  Those days are gone but not forgotten!

The “S” identifies any mid-year engineering changes that were made—IF any changes were made.  And yes, there were some in 1956.  Throttle gear/shafts come to mind.

Thanks – my dogs are often my companions on the water.

Thanks – I do like this model and it will be a good addition giving me a faster outboard for bigger lakes when fishing.
