I have this little Johnson. On the rope sheve it says Johnson Motor Corp.By serial number it is a 1923 model. My other earlier Johnsons don’t have this .Johnson Motor corp.Any ideas why this model is different. It doesn’t have the heavy aluminum gas tank.
Thank you for any help. Its just different than my other Johnsons.

Every South Bend Built Johnson I have ever seen from 1922-1928, has said Johnson Motor Corp on the rope plate.
It would help if you could post a picture for us to see for ourselves what the differences might be.

Original may have gotten broken. A later
rope sheave was purchased from a dealer
and stamped with your motor numbers.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

            Here’s a 1923 A model rope plate.A 1923 A model with a serial number 5,000 would likely not have a cast tank.
