So, I got the corn head grease in the mail, and machined
an adapter to screw into the bottom gear case hole
and hook up to the grease gun.
(BTW – 5/16 x 18 tpi threads in the bottom gear case hole)
I install my new 14 oz tube of grease in the gun, and
commence to pump…… and pump, and pump! Lost count
at over 300 pumps of grease, and then the tube ran out!
Was getting worried that maybe I’m putting in way too
much grease and it’s not coming out the vent hole for
some reason. I was expecting it to come out the top of the motor at
      any time. 😮
I decided I better quit and do some research. Finally
just found in the Johnson 3rd edition manual that the gear case
takes 15 ounces! Guess tomorrow I’ll pump in a little more!
Just curious, was there an "Accessory" grease gun for filling
the PO gear cases back in the day?

Don’t know about an accessory to fill it, but the old gear case grease was often the thick black looking stuff. The Corn Head Grease will do a good job though. The PO15 is a great engine.. you will like it!

Basically, I just have the fuel tank left to "fix up",
then I can wait five months to try it on a boat
when the ice goes back out of the lake 🙁
