I’m guessing then there will be "no" water flow when the PO is
in a test tank? ……. I’d probably have to use the engine hoist
to even get it in the test tank, lol.Prepare to be boarded!
October 18, 2016 at 10:41 pm #46075I queried the seller of this prop regarding size, pitch, and
prop shaft bore size.http://www.ebay.com/itm/361447084376?_t … EBIDX%3AIT
that the seller states is
the OMC prop number 375581 as suggested in this thread
that I need for my PO-15.The seller replied…….
=========================
The inner diameter of the propeller hub is .75". The diameter measures 10". The only information we have about the pitch is what is stamped on the prop itself. It says : 56164 x 4
==========================
Questions –
1. Is the center bore of these props "stepped"?
Such as 3/4" on the outside end to fit the treaded area of the prop shaft,
and larger in the rest of the bore? I believe I measured the prop shaft
on my PO as .892, and odd size!2. Does the seller’s # 56164 x 4 that’s on his prop translate to any meaningful
information, such as pitch, etc?He states it’s about 10" diameter. Not sure if I should hold out for a larger
diameter prop?Thanks for any data or thoughts!

October 21, 2016 at 6:46 am #46235The prop that came with the early ’50s 25 horse Evinrude Big Twin/RD Johnson is 277580 – 10-3/8" by 12-½". It is used as a heavy duty prop for cabin boats and barges for the 40 horse model. The six digit numbers that replaced the old Johnson numbers with the dash in them were in the 306 and 307 range. Of course those could be superseded by newer, higher numbers. . . 🙂
October 21, 2016 at 10:45 am #46241Have you checked with Doug Penn?The 10 3/8 diameter will work fine and was the standard prop.The 12" will push more water for cooling when you are operating at low speed,but you don’t troll with a PO.
October 21, 2016 at 12:27 pm #46245If the 10-3/8" prop will work fine I guess I won’t worry. Don’t think it
will get a lot of use unless I get a dedicated boat for it!…… too heavy
to be taking it on and off the boat, and I think my lightweight AlumaCraft
would sink!
It was stated on the thread that…. "Your original 29-175 prop measured 12 X 13",
so I wasn’t sure 10-3/8" would be desirable.

October 21, 2016 at 8:18 pm #46264Mumbles, thanks for the information…. I think, lol.
I’m guessing the Cavemen did a lot of experimenting before
they figured out what size rock worked best… lucky
for them they didn’t have to deal with props!
Will Look on the Green board data. Thanks!Prepare to be boarded!
October 21, 2016 at 8:58 pm #46266Michigan wheel AM 33 is the fastest prop for light boat with two people but the AM 31 and 32 are also good props, I have tried all three …. 😎
quote Buccaneer:Mumbles, thanks for the information…. I think, lol.
