I see on eBay this Johnson 10th edition manual. double checking what the seller says what models /years it covers. Will it pertain to my 1960 Johnson CD-17 5.5hp?
Thanks ,Jim PSB"Some people want to know how a watch works, others just want to know what time it is"
Robbie RobertsonJanuary 24, 2017 at 12:47 am #51583I would say yes as it lists specs for up to 1964 motors, yours included.
I have one it is pretty red colored, like that, but it seems leather bound, and mine is not…or it just maybe looks that way,http://www.richardsoutboardtools.com
classicomctools@gmail.comJanuary 24, 2017 at 12:51 am #51584I have two Tenth Edition Johnson service manuals. One is red & other is white. Both cover 3hp to 40hp. JW10 (1952) thru RK-24 & up (1964). Slight variations in the books, but both cover the thermostat 5.5hp motors & needle bearing rods.

January 24, 2017 at 1:20 am #51588When did OMC stop grouping the repair Manuals into editions like the older ones and start printing them for specific years and hp ranges like in the late 60’s,70’s and newer?
Thanks for the info .

Robbie RobertsonJanuary 24, 2017 at 1:37 am #51589Well I have a ’65 40hp service manual so maybe after 1964 was about it? I wanted all the details on an Electromatic gearcase.

January 24, 2017 at 1:50 am #51591The 10th edition was supposed to go thru ’64. I have a ‘comprehensive all models’ Johnson manual for ’65. Covers 3-90 hp motors, first year for the 6-hp..
January 24, 2017 at 2:42 am #51596That manual is available for reading and printing (and saving as a PDF) on boatinfo.

January 24, 2017 at 7:08 am #51606It sounds from your replies that the individual year manuals started in 1965. Good to know.

Robbie RobertsonJanuary 24, 2017 at 1:51 pm #51612How do you save it as a PDF? I have not been able to find a way to do it.

You first click on the "PRINT" icon at the bottom of the screen. (Looks like a Printer…)
Then….Select the pages you want. On a 674 page document….this can take a while LOL….
Then……after you’ve selected the pages to "print"……click on the "CHECK MARK" at the lower right of your screen. A dialogue box should open up giving you a choice of printers etc. One of those choices is "Save to PDF". Choose that and click SAVE.
One issue is….it seems that you can only save a limited number of pages at a time. Maybe 25….. So on a huge document like this you will end up with multiple PDF’s that can then be combined . There are websites that do this for free. Google "Combine PDF".
Like I say….it’s not easy….but it can be done if it’s a document that you cannot find anyplace else.
