I just bought a 1972 Johnson 25 that’s in pretty rough shape. That year, the shroud had those fragile plastic emblems that wrapped around the back. One emblem is available, but the others are N.L.A.

I just want to repair, and have a decent looking and working engine, it’s not worth the $ to build a show quality motor from this one. Too many battle scars.

I was thinking of just finding a clean looking shroud from some other year. I think 1971 to 1976 are definitely the same part. Later than 1976 up through the 1980’s look similar, but I don’t know if they’ll fit. Has anyone tried this?

I think you are correct. I looked up the part numbers for the rubber cover molding from 71-76, and it is the same part number throughout. The lower pans from these years supercedes to the same number as well.
