I have a Johnson TD-15, and I’m hoping I can find some help deciphering the rest of the numbers on the motor. The Model says TD-15 41E 350 Serial # is 446789. I can’t find any place to look up Johnson serial #’s to get any details on this motor. My understanding is that the TD-15 was built in 1941-42, but that’s all I know. I’m curious about the 41E 350, and I’m hoping the serial number will help me figure out when this motor was really built, etc. Thank you for any help anyone can provide, I’m new to this forum, and appreciate any info anyone may have. You guys have probably forgotten more about old outboards than I’ll ever know.

Serial number is the easy part. It is a 1942, according to Peter Hunn’s The Old Outboard Book. Sorry, I don’t know what the other stuff is.

The TD-15 should be painted dull aluminum color. The TS & TD-15 models had a different crankshaft and magneto than the later TS & TD-20 models. The ‘flat’ area on the -15 crank that operates the points is 1/2" wide and its mag had a maverick spark suppressor (air gap). Later models had a 3/4" ‘flat on the crank and no suppressor’.

41E-350. This is a molding(part)number not part of the serial number. stan
