Working on an earlier TD-15. I have gone through the whole ignition with new condensers, plug wires, and cleaned the points. I have been told the coils are usually OK on these. I have excellent spark on the bottom cylinder, but I do not have anything on the top. Is there an easy way to test the coil, and if it is bad, is there anywhere that has NOS ones? I’ve looked on eBay with no results.

      Thanks!

A rudimentary test of the coils can be done with the Volt – Ohm- Meter ( VOM). Check resistance between the spark plug wire  plug connector and ground on the engine.  Reading will likely be in the range of 4500 to 6000 Ohms.  If you get an open (infinity) the coil or the wire is most bad.  If you get an open, next step is to do the same test at the coil spark plug wire connection.

just compare bad to good …should see something different   if not look elsewhere… or swap things    one a a time only

          try cleaningthe points again.
