      Has anyone tried OMC coils on TD 20 type magneto ?

        if you are referring to the usual coils they are not made for the TD common coils began to appear on the TN version around 1952

        or… are you asking if the windings can be transferred on the TD laminates

            Good question. If they do in fact fit, the wiring is quite different. Why not find good used coils. There are tons of used ones around.

              there has been cases where the winding of “modern” … coils was transferred over and it involved some work altering the laminates to fit the coil openning…. I do not remeber which ones could be rigged to accept the newer windings .

              I think it was in the Outboarder magazine some time ago so if you access to od copies see if you can find the procedure.

              of course if tons of used one are floating around that is your best bet .

                Most of those old center-magnet coils are still good. That was before OMC discovered how to make coils that would self-destruct within 3 years.
