Hello, I’m a first time vintage outboard restorer. ive gone through my tn27 and have it running finally! It will start easily and idle ridiculously slow now. My question is, at a low idle I’m hearing a noise in the motor that I can best describe as a  knocking/ticking noise. Almost like something is loose.  Once I increase the rpms it goes away and sounds smooth like a newer outboard.  Not sure if this is normal for this motor.  Any advice?

After watching some videos I decided to look through the motor . It turns out there were a couple bolts I didn’t tighten down. She’s quiet and purring now!

If it primes and starts easily I assume you must have replaced the leather primer seals?  If not and you need them , I just made up a fresh batch.
