      Hello and happy holidays to all;

      Are JW longshafts uncommon? From what I can see, there were a lot of Junior Weedless motors built, but I don’t think I’ve seen many with long shaft lowers.

      I have a short shaft in about this same year, (mine’s a JW-17) and I love it.

      This one’s expensive, (for me, anyway) but it’s been for sale for a few months, and I’m considering a lowball offer.

      Many thanks;

        No these were not rare, as they were used in arias where their were a lot of sail boats.

          They are very rare in some locations. There were some dealers on small lakes who never sold a single one. Those that were sold were by dealers on larger bodies of water that sold a lot of big, dual motor rigs and sail boats. . . 😉

            They don’t fold up very nicely, and they don’t fit into a standard case, either. So no great advantage over a fixed long-shaft ?

                No. That one doesn’t fold.

                  No hinge on that one. Rock in background. . . 🙄

                    Most longshaft 3’s around me have the High Thrust (90 degree) gearcase for sailboat use. Perhaps that weedless was used as an auxilliary on a larger 14 or 16 footer with a 20" transom to get in weedy coves? Just a guess.

                    If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.

                      I was seeing things. The fixed LS are not all that unusual around here, and I’d echo Kerry’s comment. Most are ‘yachtwins’. The FOLDING longshafts are rare (I think),the only one I ever encountered came from Florida…
