I would like to change the spark plugs in my KA 37. They are a two part plug assembly. What do i need to get to replace them. The threaded holes in the cylinders are to large for conventional plugs.

Spark plugs for that motor are very available. You just need to convert the number on your old plug to the replacement number. I don’i have that info available with me right now. Just post the old plug number here and someone will give the replacement plug number.

Thanks eltoquad. Plugs are Champion R-7.

I have used Champion D-9, or NGK A-6 plugs with good results. I have a couple motors with the 2 piece plugs in them and they run just fine. I would rather have an old plug in an old motor.

I have a Champion Spark Plug Chart for 1965 showing replacement for R-7 to be a K-61R

Your motor needs a 18mm plug with about 1/2″ reach. Examples would be Champion D-16 & D-17, AC-86. There are other brands as well.

Went to the local NAPA store and landed on NGK AB-7. Will give them a try.

Just a note on the NGK plug coding system … unlike Champion and many other brands the heat code ( last digit) is goes opposite…. the larger the number the colder the plug.

I have been having good luck with NGK plugs, I like them
