      I’m trying to remove the lower unit to dress up a chipped skeg. So far I’ve loosened the nut in front and tapped on the gear housing with a rubber mallet. It didn’t budge. Are there any other fasteners?

        YES pull the powerhead and there is a square nut remove it should then come down. unless the water tube is frozen in. when installing orient the nut the same way or the powerhead wont seat all the way down.
