This motor runs great but won’t idle. Ive adjusted the idle screw with little affect. Any help appreciated. Have thought the float may be to high.

I had the same problem. What I found was that the timing was off quite a ways. The points cam was installed upside down. To reset the timing on these, you pull the head and gasket. Then rotate crank till piston is within 5/32nds from tdc on the compression stroke. The points should start to open at this position. Tighten mag plate, replace flywheel and you should be good to go.

You go to the extreme of removing the head?? Why not use a straw or pencil to the spark plug hole to find TDC of the piston?
Quoting from the manual. Besides the piston is not under the spark plug hole. The pionts rubbing block wears down and causes the timing to change. The mag plate is in a fixed position and you have to move it like you would a distributor to change the timing.
