September 12, 2023 at 10:12 am #280508Gary, I see that you recently have posted to a very old Lauson thread, to have continuity it would be best to keep your messages here. As for the parts that you are seeking, I think that your best bet will be a parts motor at one of the club swap meets. It not uncommon to find a rough Lauson for pretty cheap, at least in our part of the country ( S-E Michigan) . For a carb kit, I can’t help, however take yours apart and do a good cleaning, likely the only thing needed will be new gaskets that you can make.
And , where are you located? finding parts may be more difficult in certain parts of the country.

OOPS’ now I see “Canada” … where?
September 12, 2023 at 11:59 am #280514Good morning..north of Toronto in the summer. My husband has made a list of what he thinks he needs. Through this group we have rec’d a manual with a parts listing.
My husband is looking for the following: Service # 22800 OB 447 Exhaust tube, Service # 22781 OB 417 Throttle steering grip, Service # 22984 H 27.894 Ignition coil, Service # 22987 H26.982 Condenser, Service # 23003 H26.976 Breaker lever with contact points
Perhaps, as you say we should look around for another one of these motors. It was given to us by a neighbour and it has sat for more than 30 years in his basement!
Thanks for your help.
PS: My husband was born and raised in Lansing, MI
September 12, 2023 at 1:12 pm #280518When in need of that many parts, yes, it’s best to be looking for a parts motor. As for the ignition coil, you will learn the that will be a challenge. The coil for that motor is not readily available for reasonable cost. Your motor has a Eisserman magneto for an opposed twin engine. The coil has two secondary ( high voltage) outlet terminals necessary to fire both sparkplugs. There are coils available for that magneto, it is the same coil that is used on the Maytag model 72 twin engine, they are expensive ( search e-bay). A less expensive substitute coil has been identified ( John Deere pony motor coil) but this requires modification of the iron armature laminations. If you do some searching here and on the web there are discussions on this issue. Your Lauson twin is a nice example of this motor, especially cosmetically and complete with the often missing lower cowls., that said, getting it back to running condition will be a challenge because of the magneto situation. Good luck , and please keep us posted on progress and questions.

PS, keep an eye on the “upcoming events’ page here. Look for local swap meets where you may find help and parts. If you are “snow birds” , lots of club activity in Florida over the winter.
September 14, 2023 at 2:18 pm #280605Hello…well we finally got the 1947 Lauson Sport King A410, cleaned up. My husband rebuilt the carburetor, put in a new single spark plug, cleaned everything he could and put in the gas and oil. He was able to “ spin” the motor but there was no spark at all. What should he check next? ( The little propeller sure looked cute while spinning around🙂)
