November 12, 2020 at 5:18 pm #220699It’s a detuned six horse powerhead sitting on a 3 or 4 horse lower unit.
Don’t lose or damage the prop as those left hand ones are next to impossible to find and can be worth more than the motor itself if you have to replace it!
November 12, 2020 at 6:57 pm #220703never noticed that lefty prop !!! good to know why would they built a lefty engine with millions going the other way ?? looking at 80$ CDN cost …. probably just needs a clean up on the points

November 12, 2020 at 7:20 pm #220705why not just change lower unit from a lightwin they are cheap then you would have right hand prop. just asking.

I guess it would make a good back troller kicker …. for walleye if I added a righthand prop 🙂

November 13, 2020 at 1:01 am #220748If you use the 3hp or 4hp lower unit you will only go as fast as a 3 or a 4hp.
I wanted to make my 5hp a weedless but could not find a solution for the problem.
When Finn Irgen invented the weedless lower unit he did people like myself a huge favor.
I am on weed infested rivers while out on my trapline.I have never found a path of weeds I could n ot sail threw with my # and 4hps.November 13, 2020 at 10:00 am #220760no worry…. I have no plans to change the lower half….the plan is to pick it up Saturday after a quick compression test …if it looks ok it is heading to the basement with my 2 other projetcs a 59 10hp Golden jubile and a 56 10hp Evinrude I picked up last summer happy days ahead

November 14, 2020 at 12:49 pm #220837🙂 picked it up this a.m. 80$ cnd about 50U$ tested compression & OK around 75 psi T&B cowl spotless inside few scratches outside few nicks on the prop but excellent shape
overall looks like a pampered 5hp ..should make a fine kicker
a bit more pricy than my usual finds but a good one to save. 🙂
