Ralph Simmons 1507 Jenkins Road Clyde New York 14433February 8, 2024 at 12:17 pm #284748Hello Stanley, Buccaneer & Tubbs
Do you know if these coils are still available? As expected the link noted has expired.
Recently picked up a 72T that’s in good condition but will need a coil replacement, wires, & condenser, Wires & condenser I already have.
I’ve found some info on the coil replacement, unsure as to how they mate with the heels.
Had to step away from motor work for a while to attend to family matters, it’s good to have more time again.
Thanks
February 8, 2024 at 1:48 pm #284749I can’t remember much about how the coil laminates attached
to the heels, but my photo seems to suggest there’s a “through”
bolt through the heels and coil laminate, and that the coil’s
laminated simply “butt” up against the heels??Last time I looked, there were still some of the Military style
coils on EBay.Prepare to be boarded!
February 8, 2024 at 2:01 pm #284754That’s certainly what it looks like, could it really be that easy!
You did a really nice job on this.
February 8, 2024 at 2:15 pm #284755Pleased with how the mag plate looks.
Lockwood Engineers put some thought into easily removing the flywheel, nothing like the South Bend “A”.

This is what I had previously posted.
I used the OMC style coils instead.
I have the starting instructions and
will post them when I find them.
Too much advance and your shoulder
will be sore for a week if your young,
and a month if your my age.
Tubs.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
February 8, 2024 at 8:26 pm #284767Nice jobs, great information as always.
Was the original rod damaged or ? Oh, I now see your’s was missing.
Rod on mine has a straight screw slot. Nut end is also slotted but restricted by the rod protruding past the end.
It appears the pins just butt up against the heels.
You prefer the OMC coils vrs the military coil, any particular reason or just preference….learning here!
February 8, 2024 at 8:45 pm #28476872T coil, very similar to 62T coil I’d think.
You make it look easy, but I”m sure it’s not as easy as it looks, time & patience.
Thanks again.

I don’t have a coil preference. I used what I had.
I believe this is the mag you have .
There may be something here you can use
no matter which coil you choose.
